Hello, I am River Liu: A Visual Designer & Artist Over the past several years, I’ve worked at the intersection of visual design, fashion, and digital systems, across both conceptual and commercial contexts. Born and raised in China, my background in visual communication design shaped a practice that moves fluidly between graphic design, UI/UX, and brand storytelling. My work spans brand identities, digital platforms, and physical outputs, often weaving cultural narratives into contemporary visual language. Alongside commercial projects, I maintain an active artistic practice, with works exhibited internationally. These two paths—design and art—continue to inform each other, allowing me to approach design not only as problem-solving, but also as a form of cultural expression. Currently, I work as a lead designer for a fashion brand based in Los Angeles, where I focus on building cohesive visual systems across campaigns, products, and digital experiences. My approach emphasizes clarity, structure, and emotional resonance, balancing strategic thinking with visual sensitivity. My work has been recognized by international design awards, including the A’ Design Award, MUSE Award, Creative Quarterly, and C2A. Beyond recognition, I value long-term thinking, collaboration, and the ability of design to create meaningful connections across disciplines and cultures. 2022 MUSE Design Awards - Typography-Silver winner I combined Chinese cursive script and the English alphabet to express the impact of chaos on reality, I tried to find a balance between the two so that chaos and order merge. The trivialities of life often make us lose our way, but life is short as a dream. Calm down, think, and pursue your goals bravely, and chaos can be turned into combat power. Cursive script represents chaos and power, and English fonts reflect regularity and order. Capabilities Conceptual Poster Design Client Life as a Dream Awards 2022 MUSE Design Awards Description An award-winning typographic poster project exploring the relationship between chaos and order. By combining Chinese cursive script with the English alphabet, the work visualizes the tension between emotional intensity and structural control.
